Cats love to explore their territory whatever the weather and always leave the home full of confidence, but it doesn’t stop us from worrying about them as cat parents.

When cats head out during the summer, we might feel more relaxed about them staying out all day and night. The winter however, brings darkness, wind and rain, conditions which can lead us to worry more than usual.

Do cats like the rain?

Generally cats do not like getting wet at all. A heavy downpour can mean that their fur gets waterlogged, resulting in them feeling very uncomfortable and cold. The coat gets heavy, meaning that your cat will not be as agile as normal, slowing down their reactions which are what usually keeps them safe.

Where do cats go when it rains?

Most cats will instinctively know when rain is on the horizon, so will seek shelter in advance. However, our weather can be extremely unpredictable, meaning cats can sometimes be caught unawares and further from home than they’d like. In this eventually a cat will try to find shelter wherever they can, such as under cars, in sheds, under bushes and anywhere else where they can curl up to keep warm and dry.

Will a cat use a Katden when it rains?

They absolutely will use a Katden in wet and cold conditions. It has been designed to be windproof and waterproof, acting as a cosy place to rest until the weather improves. You will also find that your cat uses the Katden in the summer, when it will act as a shelter from the sun and heat.
