Nearly all species of reptile require exposure to UV light in order to produce vitamin D, and though the exact amount they need will vary from species to species, it goes without saying that UV light is essential to their health and well-being. Having said that, overexposure to UV light is as harmful to reptiles as it is to humans and though their skin is more resilient than ours, you will still need to moderate their access to UV light.
