PHYTOPET PRE/PR0 BIOTIC SUPPLEMENT
Phytopet’s Pre/Pro Biotic Supplement is a synergistic blend of Chicory Inulin prebiotic, and Sc1 – 1077 Live Yeast Probiotic.
Its primary function is to deliver or help assure complete and efficient digestion, maximising nutrient uptake for the benefit of the animal.
MODE OF ACTION
CHICORY INULIN:
This purpose grown, organic chicory root is harvested at the peak of its sugar content in the root or tuber. The sugar content is not digested by enzymes, but only by bacteria in the gut. The sugars are referred to as Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS)
As opposed to sugar beet, which has a limited range of relatively short chain sugars, chicory root has a complex range of short and long chain sugars.
Short chain sugars tend to be digested early in the digestive process, and do not tend to survive into the hind gut of monogastrics. Most long chain sugars do survive to fuel the reproductive activity of helpful bacteria in the gut. An optimal population of these bacteria helps to ensure complete fermentation of the animals’ diet, reducing incidences of flatulence, dietary looseness, and other common digestive disorders. Additionally, the uptake of all nutrients are increased (where this is possible).
Sc1-1077 LIVE YEAST:
Is a micro-pearled, thermally protected yeast, which has many potential benefits in the digestive process.
In monogastrics the yeast has little effect in the stomach, but will scavenge oxygen if present. When the yeast transits the stomach into the gut it continues to scavenge oxygen, promoting an anaerobic environment which is favoured by the digestive bacteria. As a result, optimal numbers of helpful bacteria are present to complete the breakdown of nutrients, and by weight of numbers, competitively exclude potentially harmful bacteria.
A live yeast cell ‘resides’ for a few days within the digestive tract. It will then be carried away in the faecal stream. However, potentially harmful pathogenic bacteria will attach themselves to the yeast cell in order to consume it. Once attached, they are unable to detach themselves and are therefore also carried out in the faecal stream.
If an animal is consuming up to 2 grams of our live yeast per day, that equates to 100,000,000,000 colony feasible units (CFU’s). If each yeast CFU is carrying multiples of potentially harmful bacteria out with the animal faeces on a daily basis, it naturally limits the potential adverse effects of these bacteria on the host animal.
The presence of live yeast in an animal has also been proved to have the effect of stimulating its auto-immune response. This will have the effect of making that animal more robust, and resistant to disease threats. Its presence also encourages the reproductive activity of fibre fermenting (cellulolytic) bacteria, and lactate scavenging bacteria, which create and maintain the acidic environment.
The combination of yeast and inulin helps to reduce incidences of inappropriate fermentation, which can lead to the onset of most common digestive disorders.

**For orders over £59 where the total order weight is greater than 25kg, the delivery for the first 25kg will be free and then we will charge £3.00 per 15kg after that. Large items can incur a charge depending on the volume of the item.
Depending on order weight, a small number of postcodes such as E1, EC1, SE1 and SW1 may be charged slightly differently to the above rules.
If your order weight is over 25kg then it may be split into multiple consignments to ensure your safety and increase the ease of handling. We will endeavour to ensure both consignments arrive at the same time however due to decisions by our courier this may not always be possible.
Unfortunately, due to costs imposed on us from our courier, some large items will have a surcharge applied to them. This charge will appear in your cart when you checkout.
Live food delivery starts at £4.49 and we use a fully tracked next day service for this.
Please see above for information about delivery days, times and rates. In certain circumstances orders may be delayed without prior notification. On occasions couriers may deliver your parcel at 48 hours, not 24 hours. These circumstances are out of our control therefore we do not guarantee a next day delivery service. We do not track orders so will not be able to notify you of courier delays. We will not replace or refund orders that have been rejected by the customer at 48 hours due to courier delays. Our boxes do keep everything frozen for 48 hours.
We will not replace/refund goods which have thawed upon an unsuccessful delivery due to no one being home to receive goods.
Orders placed after Thursdays 12.30pm will not be dispatched until Monday. Please note this will extend your delivery time.
You will receive an email from us the day before delivery notifying dispatch, please ensure you are home for the delivery, if you are going to be out, please get in touch to arrange a more suitable day.

Please note certain large and fragile products are excluded from international delivery. If your order is over 30kg, please checkout as normal and you will have the option to request a shipping quote from us. Delivery time to the following locations is 2 working days. Delivery will be automatically calculated during checkout, or visit our delivery page for a full list of international delivery rates.
Our aim is to dispatch all items within the allocated dispatch times (Same day/24 hour/48 hour dispatch). Please note if your order contains multiple items, the order dispatch time will be from the item with the longest dispatch time to ensure you receive your whole order in a single delivery.
We will send you a notification email when your order has been dispatched.
While we always try our best to dispatch every order following the above guidelines, during extremely busy periods dispatch times may increase by up to one day. We will keep you updated on the status of your order via email.
We will email you when your order is dispatched by us and if you provide a mobile number when you checkout our courier will email you on the day of delivery with a delivery slot.
