pets-493645_1280We're two weeks in already and you may or may not know that as well as being the first full month of Spring, April is also national pet month here in the UK! We have no doubt that many, if not all of those reading this, dote upon their furry friends all year round, but national pet month is a great excuse to go all out and thoroughly spoil them.

National Pet Month is a registered animal charity, and those behind it are nothing if not ambitious, and every year they use April as an opportunity to raise awareness regarding the mutual benefits of living with pet, encourage responsible pet ownership and shine a light on those pet care specialists who live their life helping and working with animals.

In addition to striving toward the betterment of all pets and generally improving their collective well-being, every year National Pet Month pick a theme to focus upon. This year they have chosen 'Pets And The Elderly' and are making a concerted effort to bring attention to the many benefits associated with sharing the later years of one's life with a loving pet.

In order to spread awareness of their cause and to gain support, National Pet Month invites anyone who wants to get involved to help them raise funds by organising events and securing sponsorship. If you're interesting in lending a hand, or would like to find out if there are any events going on around your area that you can support, simply visit their website.

If you're interested to learn more about what is going on during National Pet Month, then you're in luck! The National Pet Month website is a veritable treasure trove of information, and their blog page is rich source of related pet news. Alternatively, you can visit the National Pet Month Facebook or Twitter communities to enter competitions, interact with other pet lovers and learn more about what they have going on and how you can get involved.

From everyone here at the Pet Express, we hope that everyone out there – both human and animal alike – is enjoying National Pet Month and are making the most of everything that it has to offer.
